Marlin Quest has a world renown staff with four IFGA World Championship fisherman and IGFA World Record Award Holders. Marlin Quest skippers are some of the top offshore fishermen on the Sea of Cortez.  

After placing well in several tournaments last year, including 10th in the 2010 Offshore World Championships last, Marlin Quest staff members, Van Hale and Kevin Kelly, were both selected to compete in the 2011 IGFA Offshore World Championships held in Cabo San Lucas. Van Hale is 49 years old and has been a professional fisherman and big game Outfitter for the past 29 years, doing one or the other almost every day of his life, fishing or hunting over 300 days a year. Has won and placed in many offshore fishing tournaments also fishing the IGFA Offshore World Championship in Cabo San Lucas, Baja Mexico in both 2010 and 2011. (The Olympics of Marlin fishing, an invitational event, 60 teams of the world's best anglers.)

Gary "Butch" King has been fishing the Sea of Cortez from both the Baja side and out of San Carlos since the 1970's.  Butch and is wife Kathy own Casa Margaritaville in San Carlos, Mexcio as well as Wildman Lake Lodge in Alaska, where they cater to a large sport fishing and hunting clientel.  As a fishing and hunting lodge owner all of his adult life, Butch has been in the business of orgainizing and outfitting quality outdoor experiences for sportsmen for the past thirty-five years and brings an expertise to Marlin Quest that is your guarantee of a Safe, Secure and Sucessful Trip.

Captain Juan Wooddell, born in the United States and raised in Mexcio, recently won the IGFA Captain's Award for his offshore fishing expertise. Juan is fluent in both English and Spanish.  Growing up near Guaymas in the seaside community of Miramar,   Juan has spent his entire life fishing the Sea of Cortez, both as a commercial and sport fisherman and as a Captain for Marlin Quest.  Juan knows the Baja waters from Cabo San Lucas to Santa Rosalia and the Mexican mainland from Rocky Point to Mazatlan.  Most importantly, Captain Juan is a passionate bill fisherman and loves seeing you to catch big marlin.

Captain Kevin Kelly:  Kevin brings a world of experience to Marlin Quest. Kevin has fished world wide for Big Game Fish and has won and participated in all the big tournaments. Kevin qualified the past two years, 2010 and 2011 for the IFGA Offshore World Championship in Cabo San Lucas.  Kevin has great knowledge of all the Big Game species and is always in fish. A guy you want on the boat in the Sea Of Cortez!
